SugarHill is the oldest continuously operating recording studio in the United States. It has been making records in Houston, Texas since 1941.

How do I book a session?
Use the booking form on our Contact page or call the studio at 713-926-4431. Tell us what you are making and when you want the room, and we come back with availability, rates and the room that fits the session.
What does a session cost?
Rates depend on the room, the service and the length of the session. Send the details through the booking form and we will quote it. A 50% deposit holds the date.
What services do you offer?
Recording and tracking, mixing, mastering, audiobooks, ADR, voiceover, tape transfer and audio restoration. Mixing and mastering are available whether or not you tracked with us.
What rooms and gear do you have?
Three rooms: the Sugar Hill Room on a Neotek console, Goldstar on a Neve Genesys, and the Duke Room on an Avid D-Command, backed by a deep vintage microphone and outboard locker and a shared tape room. The full inventory is on our Equipment page.

Across its history the room has hosted artists from Lightnin' Hopkins, the Big Bopper and George Jones to the 13th Floor Elevators, Freddy Fender, Selena, Destiny's Child, Beyoncé and Travis Scott.

What is your deposit and cancellation policy?
A 50% deposit is due at booking with the balance at the session, taken through Cash App or Zelle. With 48 hours notice your deposit is refundable; inside 48 hours you can reschedule; inside 24 hours the deposit is forfeited.
Do I need to bring anything to my session?
Bring a hard drive to take your session files with you. We archive sessions as a courtesy and run a reset every six months, so always keep your own copy. Data recovery and file transfer are available for a fee.
